Mandala panel quilt

Apparently, I finished this one sometime in March of 2021? I don't recall having the time to machine quilt anything, but I must have because this and two other small projects were finished at some point, and the blog has a record of when I did them, so...

If the time stamps on the pictures are any indication, I started this project in 2016- which meant I had that panel for at least two years before doing anything with it; I purchased it at a quilt show when I was living in Pittsburgh. I can't remember this sweet kitty's name, but I was house sitting and she loved this project.

I wasn't exactly pleased with the aqua green border fabric I had purchased, but it was what I could find at the local quilt shop. The back, which is bluer than the pictures make out, was a wide back from JoAnn fabric. I bound it with a plum purple and white polka dot binding. It had a bamboo batting which I haven't been able to locate the like of since. It had excellent drape; I would say that was the one regret I have from ripping this project apart is that I can't find batting equal to what was in it.

July 22, 2020 - what came first, the new fabric or the desire to rip it apart? I'm not sure. I was house sitting, again, different house.

March 13, 2021
Quilt day, obviously. The studio had the backing fabric, a shot cotton in a scorched lime color, and another (different) local quilt shop had the olive and blue blender fabric. So much happier. This other shop also had better lighting that the one I got the original sashing fabric at. Never underestimate the power of natural lighting.

The cats love this (of course they love it) but they also puked on it about three times before I got the binding put on, so rather than risk fraying the edges I waited until it was bound before I washed it. I did not quilt the centers of the medallions, and now that it's been washed I *might* go back and hand stitch the centers a little bit, just the center motifs of the small ones and maybe another ring in the larger ones to tack everything down. I thought I'd like them without quilting, but now that it's been washed, I think that little bit of stitching would go a long way.

2022. Not the best year, either

 Wow.

Didn't realize that it's been at least six months since I sat down with this little crafting accountability blog.

I was going to cut to the chase and eliminate this section, but someday I'm going to question what was going on, and I'm sure this will help jog my memory. I think I appropriately used a jump break?? I hope so.
